David Hoffman


David was a research intern at UCL STEaPP as part of the Smarter, Safer and Sustainable Cities project. His research revolved around progressive forms of urban policy and the role of local governments as catalysts for sustainable economic development.


Prior to joining UCL STEaPP, David worked on crosscutting economic development issues in consultancies, international organizations and specialized agencies in the UK (Saana Consulting), Chile (United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean) and Tanzania (The German Agency for International Cooperation), and completed other related short-term assignments in the UK, Germany and Ethiopia. He is also one of the directors of Lensational, a social enterprise that aims to empower women in developing countries economically through photography.


David holds a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of York (2013), and an MSc in Urban Economic Development from UCL (2014). He is fluent in German, Spanish and French.
