Simon Curtis

Simon is a visiting fellow in the UCL City leadership Laboratory, and Lecturer in International Politics at UEA. Prior to his appointment at UEA in 2009, he was previously Michael Leifer Scholar in the International Relations Department at LSE.


His core research interests include international theory, the history of international society, international political economy, and the relationship between history and social science.


Simon’s current research projects investigate the relationship between transnational processes and the society of sovereign states, with particular reference to transnational urbanism and global cities. Recent scholarly publications include: The Power of Cities in International Relations (New York, Routledge) and Reassembling IR Theory (London, Palgrave Macmillan) co-authored with Michele Acuto.
