Yvonne Yap


Yvonne was a research assistant for the City Leadership Lab at UCL STEaPP who is currently studying at the National University of Singapore and Waseda University. Prior to this, Yvonne assisted in research at the Yale School of Public Health, analysing the culturomics of digitized medical texts.


Yvonne’s current research projects investigate the construction and performance of sexuality in urban spaces, with a particular focus on pole dancers in Singapore and Tokyo. Her aim is to investigate the politics of urban sexscapes and their influence on identity negotiation and legitimisation in modern Asian societies.
