Doctoral project: Innovating in the built environment
Zoe Henderson is a PhD Candidate and Civil Engineer, having completed an MEng at the University of Bath's interdisciplinary department of Architecture and Civil Engineering. Zoe has previously worked for Transport for London where her role was to support the Contract Supervisor on the Victoria Station Upgrade. During this time she worked on Quality Management and the Health, Safety and Environmental aspects of on-site activities, as well as third-party liaison and infrastructure protection during the tunnelling phase of the project.
Zoe’s research is interested in the stimulation of systemic innovation in the built environment, and in particular, is focused on the use of design philosophies as part of front-end decision-making. Zoe also has interests in behavioural decision making, the circular economy, social value and inclusivity in infrastructure. Zoe is undertaking her research in collaboration with industry and in particular with her co-sponsor, Arup.
Zoe is an active Graduate Member and Trustee of the Institution of Civil Engineers. Here she has been working as part of the Future Leaders Panel on Project 13; a project focused on developing a new long-term, value-driven approach to delivering high performing infrastructure.
